January Auction a Smash!
Hundreds of bags, tanks and boxes of equipment were auctioned on Saturday January 28th. Over 175 buyers participated and by 4pm, over 500 lots had gone through the auctioneer's hands and on to happy buyers. People had come from MN, WI, SD, ND, IA and – the award for the farthest visitor – Nevada! Many thanks to the youth group who served some great food. They'll be using the funds they raised for a work program later this year.
The Buy-It-Now table was busy. Open only between 11am and noon, it's a chance for a seller to ask for a specific price on an item and a buyer to pick it up promptly without going through the auction. More sellers seemed to realize the value of bringing in their fish for an immediate sale. The number of bags of available jumped considerably. At noon, sellers have the option to put their unsold items into the auction or to take them home.
The next auction will be later this spring. Stay tuned for exact dates and times.

This is your chance to sell to or buy items from fellow aquarists around the metro area. Local aquarists bring their bagged fish, bagged aquatic plants, tanks, and aquarium supplies to the auction. Each item is featured and auctioned to those attending with the seller receiving a share of the selling price. Anyone is allowed to buy and sell, however, MAS members who are selling receive a better percentage split on their items.
BUY IT NOW! Some fish and plant keepers want to make sure they get a certain price for their items. If so, put your item in the Buy It Now corral and set your price. the BIN wranglers will work to match you up with an interested party who could buy it right then and the deal is done. If not, sellers have the option to take their items back home or to let it go through the normal auction. An extra $1 fee applies for this customized service!
