Oscar Virgilio was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has lived in five different countries throughout his professional career. An aquarium enthusiast since the age of five, Oscar's passion for fish began with daily visits to the coast of the Rio de la Plata ecosystem. Over the years, he has successfully kept and raised both freshwater and marine fish, gaining extensive experience with South American Cichlids, particularly Discus and Angelfish. His love for the hobby has led him on several trips to explore different regions of the Amazon and Manaus. In the past 20 years, Oscar has also kept several exotic fish, such as Asian Arowana, Flowerhorns, and stingrays, resulting in visits to various farms in Indonesia and Thailand. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he began researching and developing his expertise in brackish water aquariums, focusing on the specific biotopes for the past four years.
Oscar has taken on various roles in the aquarium community, including: Organizer of the First Canadian Flowerhorn Show in 2015. - Manager of MA ON Line Tropical Fish. - Moderator of the 2018 Asian Arowana Canada Club. - Founder of the UFA Canada Flowerhorn Group. - Distributor for Canada of SING and Feng Shui Arowanas Farms. - Administrator of several aquarium-related Facebook groups, including Arowana Fanatics Canada, Discus Fanatics Canada, Halton Aquarium Buy and Sale, and recently established Brackish Aquarium Canada. Currently, he is focused on keeping and breeding various types of Discus and Angelfish, as well as maintaining both brackish and saltwater aquariums.
